“It is another beautiful day at the Red Pony Saloon and continual soiree”
Henry from Longmire
Deer, I love them won’t shoot them, today two of them stopped in the middle of the road. I had to slow down quickly. What I didn’t realize was the road was a solid sheet of ice. I slid for about two hundred feet. Don’t worry the deer were safe. If they were not there, right at that very moment I would not have realized how much ice was on that section of highway. I tested it once I got out on the pavement near my place it was a little slippery but not like this. A mile further is a tight curve, there is always a car in the ditch there during new snow. If I had taken that corner at highway speed I would have been the next victim. The deer saved me.
I was on my way to the big city to do my monthly shopping trip, I decided against it. I drive an old two-wheel drive van, with adequate tires. No match for the icy highways of Northern Alberta. I diverted and went to the nearest town, I picked up some groceries, cat food a little water and wood pellets. I didn’t feel up to the long drive anyways. Later that turned out to be a good decision. I had bad back pain I needed to chop a good sized load of wood.
Snow was coming in tomorrow, anywhere from 20 to 30 cm. Two days later -40 at night. I needed to concentrate on that making sure I had enough wood to get me through. I am about to take the vitamins just going through the motions now I don’t believe they do anything. I probably won’t buy into that scam again.
I will try to find natural foods that contain what I need. I mean beside irradiated fungus in hexane extracted soybean oil. Yuck
So I am at home groceries unloaded put away, firewood chopped, vitamins ingested and resting quietly. Pain in the top of my skull again and back pain, walking was slow and deliberate, except during the wheelbarrow push of my daily choppin. Gary Glitter came on at exactly the right time. The rhythm of the music helped me get the 600 pounds of wood inside. Yes I said 600. I do a rough estimate by weighing by experience, the before I chop and add them up.
Before the -40 I needed to have near a ton of wood inside. I will be loading the fire every two hours to keep warm. I complicated that when I installed the new wall. Warm air doesn’t circulate as well as it did. Ya I know just add sweaters and blankets stop whining. I am above ground.
Ya I know had this song already, it is not just for hockey games
