“Elections aren’t just about who votes but who doesn’t vote.”
Michelle Obama
Today is election day here in Canada. In true Forrest Gump speak ” that is all, I have to say about that.”
I got up early, so I could make my way to the hospital, but instead of fresh snow, I got rain. Rain + freezing temperatures = freezing rain. I went out this morning and sure enough, there was a coating of ice on my van windshield.
I checked the road reports, they say nothing. I don’t trust them. I know what freezing rain does to the pavement and I don’t travel in that. Driving on a skating rink is just not fun, avoiding stupid drivers, who think that having a four-wheel-drive means they are invulnerable, that everybody else will have problems but not them.
I checked the traffic cams and the interesting thing was no traffic, it is obvious that there are others that are waiting for the warmer temperatures. Usually, the highways are busy this time of the morning.
Not travelling today was a good decision, after the freezing rain, a heavy fog rolled in. The pictures never do it justice. The visibility was less than 200 feet.
I managed to do a few things, not much. Serviced the chainsaw. I did my regular chores. Finished doing some insulating in the shop and chainsawing is done but no chopping or stacking, which is not like me. Especially knowing snow is coming. Tonight snow will arrive, tomorrow will be another challenge. I will try to get to the hospital tomorrow. I need to get some groceries and cat food anyways.
