“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.”

Another day another ordeal, another snowstorm. I just got back from town, yea after unpacking the van. It meant taking out all the screws for the boards put around the perimeter to keep blowing snow out. It also meant pouring a little gas down the carburetor, to get the van started. When all that was done, move the boards out in front of the garage to keep ice and snow from piling up in front of the garage.
Then comes the fun part driving the van down the road and highway in slippery whiteout conditions, sometimes sideways, just to get my groceries from the post office. Why there? That is another story I am sure I already covered.
I ordered pantry items from Amazon. They actually arrived yesterday when I was already there, but the nice lady at the post office was super busy and shorthanded. Plus the Canada post tracking website was down yesterday. No way to know where it really was.
I bent down to pick up the heavy boxes, someone decided to put both big bags of dry cat food in one box. It was awkward and heavy, and as normal I was already dizzy, but faking normal. Walking was difficult, what I mean it was difficult to make it look like my gait was normal. I wasn’t here looking for sympathy I was here to get groceries.
The old van started okay leaving the post office but I stopped at the store to pick up some cream. By the time I got back out, the van wouldn’t start. I got a little worried about getting stuck in a blizzard.
I poured some more gas down the carb, and after a few hesitant coughs and sputters Gracie came to life. I said a quick thank you and a prayer to get me home safe.
I am typing this now at home, groceries unpacked, enough cat food for the apocalypse, oops forgot the cream in the van. Brb
The garage is only heated when I fill the woodstove there and light it. That isn’t possible because cleanup is not done yet. I just don’t have enough cycles to get it done. So cream would have frozen out there.
Most days, my life is the inverse of easy, that is on good days. Right now I have food, my house is warm, cats are happy and I am home. I may be alone but I am still alive.
Take care and be safe and if you live up here stay inside heavy snowfall warning on right now.
