“Once upon a time there was a piece of wood. It was not an expensive piece of wood. Far from it. Just a common block of firewood, one of those thick, solid logs that are put on the fire in winter to make cold rooms cozy and warm.”

Carlo Collodi

It is snowing again or still. I don’t think it has stopped snowing all week maybe longer. Today at some time I will have to swing the chainsaw, transport, carry fuel and start the gen, split and transport again. I am not looking forward to that.

All my joints hurt, my back, neck and wrist all hurting and for fun, you can add both knees, right ankle. The most disturbing is the throat pain. That kept me up most of the night.

For my morning entertainment, I looked at the forecast. Monday, the day I need to travel they are forecasting rain. After the deep freeze we have had here it will turn to ice everywhere.

I am going to head out to clean the solar panels soon, not sure why they will be covered in snow again in a few minutes. It seems to be coming down in earnest. I am guessing leftover weather from Vancouver. Current temp -29.

I managed to fuel up the chainsaw, put on my outdoor gear and cut some logs. I was extremely fatigued before I went out. Now that I am in and the wood is in I am worse.

The next log to cut was only 9 inches in diameter. No need to split those.  I would have mix those with split wood to keep warm.

Only two more days of cold weather to go not including today. Most likely I will have to chainsaw again tomorrow. I only cut enough for the night. My body could do no more.

Even when I was collecting snow for water. I needed to lay on the snow below the trees and take a rest. Of course not for too long. Sleeping outdoors in cold weather can be fatal.

The snow makes a great bed though. If only a mattress maker could make a bed like that.

I am collapsed on the couch again typing this on my phone I will fix the grammar and spelling after I rest. I burned my lungs a little, and I am having a dizzy spell. Maybe need some food, all I ate today was some pumpernickel like bread and coffee

More groceries are sitting at the post office waiting for warmer weather.

Monday.
