“God created Arrakis to train the faithful.”

Dune by Frank Hebert

What a morning. It snowed three inches last night. Cats were out of cat food, taillight was hanging out the back of Gracie my van.

I managed to cook some macaroni and tuna for the cats, gorilla taped the broken taillight into place, drove through the snow, got to the highway only to find extremely icy roads. I had to get to the village, all our food for cats and for me had arrived at the post office.

I made the drive in loaded eight boxes into the van, made the drive down the icy highway and down the unplowed gravel to my house. I kept thinking if I went into the ditch here could I get my groceries home every half mile or so.

I made it to my driveway, started to back down to the garage all was well. I stopped to open the garage doors, that was as far as I got. I was stuck in the soft snow. I tried everything for an hour no movement. Then I remembered how I moved my truck frame indoors by myself. I had jacked it up and put it on vehicles ramps and let it roll into the garage. Simple right.

Two more hours of jacking and lowering, praying and persistence and jacking again. I got the back end of the van in the garage. It was too close to one side. I had already hit the garage door and almost tore it off the hinges. Jacked up once more I wedged myself between the wall and the van and pushed hard. It moved six inches then a foot. I was done, all that was left was to start it up and back it in.

Did I mention that I was disabled, sick and hungry? It is all good, I now have breakfast from the parcels in hand, and I am inside. All that is left is to transport and split wood and transport that inside. No problem except for the extreme back pain and burnt lungs and list of broken parts now very sore. Oh yea and the deep wet snow. Maybe the extreme cold wasn’t so bad, it kept the snow manageable. No worries I see Tuesday we are back to minus 32.

After all that I notice one parcel is missing. I checked it online it arrives tomorrow, it can wait.

Where I spent the last three hours
