Our sins are more easily remembered than our good deeds.

Today I hope to get more done on my back deck. I have two 4×4 posts to install and 6 more joists, then lag bolts everywhere and joist hangars. Then it’s time to haul deck boards over and cut them to size Hopefully my math fu is strong and my deck measurements are good. I designed the deck to be exactly five foot wide and I have 10-foot deck boards. It should work.

If not I will have to remember the words I heard once

“A good carpenter is one who can hide the sins in his work”.

Hey does that work for governments too?

This morning as I was about to walk down the stairs, I asked the cats sitting there to move. One of them didn’t and I just about stepped on her tail in the dark. She attacked my foot in anger anyway. After bleeding a little I shrugged it off and continued to do my chores. I think I will avoid that cat in the future.

I carried over two boards, got two 4×4 posts upright, the last two, four are in place,  and I am tired out. I am taking another break and then I will do more. My goal for today is to finish the joists and get lag bolts installed. Maybe even get some stain put on the boards. I might also silicone the joints for fun.

I hope by tomorrow I will be doing deck boards.

Two more boards and framing is almost done,  still have hangers and lag bolts to do. The sun has reached the deck area and as predicted it is getting too hot to work. I may have to quit for the day.
