Another hard night, hard morning.
Cats are fed, snow is gathered for melting. And most important fire is restarted, the kettle full of water for coffee is on top.
Looking at the sky this morning doesn’t look like snow. It might even be clear enough to give the batteries a little charge. I will check the forecasts later to see if it is coming.
I just checked the weather forecasts they used the P words. Yes, the polar vortex is coming. If you don’t know what that is look it up. Last time I saw that it wouldn’t leave. It stayed extremely cold for weeks. I mean really fookin cold with even colder wind.
I am concerned. My wood reserve is low,
I have been reading reviews of my new little generator that is taking forever to get here. They are not good I hope those were exaggerations.
Back to the weather, Thursday night -28. Still, no way to split using the machine, no way to charge solar batteries.
And the worst if the heavy snow does arrive no way to start the snowblower.
I need to go out and chainsaw today. My arm muscles are very weak, I can only guess that I might be suffering some kind of muscular dystrophy. Swinging a chainsaw then swinging a heavy splitting maul, well that will be the challenge of the day.
And the snow? Apparently arriving tonight. Tomorrow, the next night, and the next night.
I had a thought about using ether in the generator. I sprayed a little in there, and It fired for a second sprayed some more, and it fired for a second.
I thought I would try the little generator. It fired and ran for about 30 seconds I tried spraying some more ether, and it fired again this time I turned the throttle up faster. It died quicker. That tells me it is a fuel problem. I broke the nozzle on the ether can, so I was out of tries.
I would order a fuel pump for the little Honda and try again.
I also managed to put on the new chain on the chainsaw it was ready to go except for fuel and bar oil. I am taking a rest break before I trudge out there in the cold cold wind and cut logs.
Cutting is done. I was too exhausted to chop so i selected the logs small enough to go straight into the fire. It is snowing hard now. On the way back I filled the bowls with low snow. Full of twigs and grass, that will have to be picked out.
I didn’t have enough battery power left to charge the tablet. I am typing on my phone and adding pictures. Pain in the ass to do each picture has to be added and manipulated one at a time and of course, I took lots today.
The pictures of loads and loads of wood may be boring to you. For me, they are a record of what a very broken man can do. Especially when there is no other choice.
I have to collapse and change into dry clothes maybe in that order.
