To be an ideal guest, stay at home.

Cousin Bob (polar vortex) left today. I am sure he will be back. Originally he was to stay a couple of days but like my cousin Bob he always outstays his welcome. Looking through my posts the vortex arrived sometime in January. It’s the middle of February.
I am thankful for any warm weather I can get this time of year. I know my woodpile is getting thin, and it is really hard to find wood in there with all the deep snow, oh Did I mention it is snowing heavy outside and that I needed to chainsaw and chop. Same old, same old, old man in pain cuts wood with chainsaw, loads all that into an old wheelbarrow moves it through the snow to the chopping block. Then unloads, splits the wood. Loads it up again and prays that he makes he can push an incredibly heavy wheelbarrow up a ramp and into the house.
The rest is easy just load the fire every four hours night and day and keeps everybody warm. Did I mention there is a raging snowstorm outside and I have a cracked rib?
I did the chainsawing like I needed to. Even have a few logs leftover for tomorrow. I did have to lay in the snow and rest for a bit so if you see my old snow boots in the pictures that’s why. It was interesting I had to dig through two feet of snow to find the logs, and I am not certain I found all of them. I am sure I will be digging for those later.
I just did that stupid thing I do. I emptied the wheelbarrow. To me that screams at me to go out and do more wood. I rationalize it all in my mind. It is snowing the snow might get deep. Easier to move wood before its too deep. And after I move it something inside of me will say that needs chopping might as well chop it while you are here.
Well I am going to ignore that all. Doesn’t matter that already have my winter overalls on. Just need a hat and some gloves. Nope I am not going to do it. Will I be able to ignore my urge to chop more wood?
I will let you know.
I feel like a groundhog. Even though it is still snowing I can see my shadow, wood chopping is done for today.
Keep rockin no matter how old u get.
