Birds are a miracle because they prove to us there is a finer, simpler state of being which we may strive to attain.

Douglas Coupland

Long gone are the days of long telephoto lens and high speed photography.

Today a flock of giant birds almost Ostrich size, with a little exageration, were feeding on lost grain in the field across from my house.

I tried to get closer, walking slowly towards them so I could capture them on my cell camera.

No luck in Texas they hunt them for fun, so I understand why they take off at the first sign of trouble.

I thought I might capture them in flight but they flew behind the trees.

Do I feel bad that I interupted them? Since I know the poisons my neighbor puts on the ground there in the name of agriculture. Why not everyone up here does it.

Not in the slightest.
