As soon go kindle fire with snow, as seek to quench the fire of love with words.

William Shakespeare

The blizzard and cold rushed in during the night. The unseasonably warm weather came to a gusty end. The heavy snowfall warning for this area was warranted.

Yup took the ashes that I dug out of the woodstove yesterday outside and dumped them. I thought while I was out, I would get some wood. Easy peasy.

I noticed far off in the blizzard. My trailer tongue had been knocked over and was on the ground. So I thought I needed to pick it up.

Did I mention the blizzard and that I was still wearing my bathrobe and had no gloves.

I froze my bare hands as I lifted the trailer onto a log and continued on to grab three heavy logs. I moved the badly designed wheelbarrow till it failed.

I had to balance and pull it backwards throw snow and deep grass, one tiring, painful cold step at a time. Last thing was to get the useless thing up the ramp into the livingroom. That took all the strength I had.

By then my hands were frozen, my back hurting. I closed and locked down the door. The wheel barrow had fallen on its side logs spilled.

Then I looked at the wood supply it was empty no chopped wood. So I decided to chop one log, just one.

More heavy swinging and sledge hammering the splitting maul through heavily knotted hardwood.

Soaked in sweat, back screaming, I noticed the cats waterbowl empty. I went down to the van pulled out a heavy bottle of water and filled cat bowls.

I thought about the gen, it would need more fuel. So back down to the garage. The filling can was empty so I loaded another heavy can of gas up on to the counter, hooked up the hose and filled a can with enough fuel for the day.

That was all I could do right now. Except I still had no hot water for coffee. So I lifted the heavy bottle filled the kettle and put it on the woodstove.

The woodstove needed filling again. There wasn’t much heat. The wood was green. It burned low and slow. The kettle wouldnt be hot enough for coffee for hours.

I could hookup the propane stove, but had no propane in small bottles. I had a new filling hose to fill the twenty empty small bottles. Never tested or used yet. That would  have to wait.

I had to rest did too much already. So I headed back to my bed to get some warmth.

I think I forgot to have breakfast huh.

UPDATE:

I looked at the fire, it looked like it was out. A closer look and I could see it needed another feeding. While I did that I thought I would chop another log, I mean what could it hurt? Oh yea my back.

I chopped and sledge hammered the maul through the nasty log until it was in 30 burnable pieces. After that I thought I would check the kettle as I put my hands on the side to see if it was warm, i saw something. Steam was trying to escape the spout. I couldn’t believe it. I put my hands on the kettle it was warm enough for coffee. There is God in heaven and he  was going to favour me with a hot cup of coffee.

Before that the wood that I just chopped needed stacking. I filled my thermos with wood heated hotwater and made my way to my coffee stash. I had bought some instant coffee to fill an amazon order for free shipping. I tried one yesterday tasted like  crap. So today I put a tiny spoonful in the filter before adding ground coffee. So that it would get used.

Coffee made powdered whole milk added. I leaned back and enjoyed my hard earned drink. It was so good I had to share.
