Cereal eating is almost a marker for a healthy lifestyle. It sets you up for the day, so you don’t overeat.

Coldest morning so far parts of the house were below zero. Some of the cat bowls were frozen solid.

My room was plus 2. Getting up before daylight to light a fire wasn’t that enjoyable. The solar panel sweep wasn’t either dressed in snow boots, sweatpants and bathrobe I ventured out broom in hand.

Moustache frozen in seconds, I swept, snapped a few pics went back inside.

I would have to venture out later and forage for wood for the fire. The next few nights were forecast to be even colder.

Cats got fed, water bowls thawed out and filled. Fire roaring, with enough wood left over for one more fill.

That means I need to find and cut wood in less than an hour. I needed to cut enough to last me a couple of days and nights.

I had a couple of large sheets of mdf board outside  actually made from chopped straw, from a failed factory south of here.

I hope the board burns.

Right now I am enjoying coffee, I already murdered a bowl of organic flax seed cereal, with oatmilk and banana. I guess the cold night made me really hungry. Gotta go before my coffee gets cold.

I went outside moved two heavy sheets of 3’x8′ 3/4″ strawboards, inside. Then untangled a frozen extension cord routed it to the room where the sheets were.

Next moved the gen outside. Got it started. Took the skill saw and safety gear down to fireroom and cut boards until they were small enough to burn.

Then back to the gen and plugged in downstairs power, that’s were the battery charger for the solar bank is connected. I cranked the charger to the max. I didn’t want to run the gen too long in the extreme cold.

After an hour, shut off the gen, screwed down the cover of the gen shack to keep the coming snow out.

Down to the fire, added some freshly cut boards, fed and watered the cats. Easy peezy, ya right.

My back hurt.
