They say a weak polar vortex causes it to swirl southward, bringing with it frigid temps. I have seen a half dozen or more of these arrive here in the last few years. They are never pleasant.
By Friday night it will arrive. I have seen forecasts of down to minus 27. Some weather services say it will stay until Feb 7 some say longer. These cold weather systems always always stay longer than expected.
It was plus 6 all night and today the same. That is bad for me. The fallen snow, now slushy will freeze into solid ice.
This will make simple tasks harder. Gathering wood and snow for melt means chopping through ice to accomplish anything. At those temps it is solid.
So why am I not out there gathering wood and snow while it is soft? Chest pains and toothache are back.
I need to travel into town in a few days, yes during the cold and snow. No choice.
What about the big hump of roof snowfall in the middle of the driveway?
Deal with that when I need to.
