Never underestimate the power of human stupidity.

Robert A. Heinlein

I could tell the status of the fire by the smoke, not by the scarce information on the internet. At best, conflicting info on the same Alberta Government site. At worst, the information on local county websites was a week old. The smoke was thicker today than yesterday.

My Bluetti arrived today. I have it unpacked and charging devices. Now I have no excuse but to set up my Starlink.

For now, I just finished breakfast, I am trying to watch an episode of Battle G. My Telus internet makes it near impossible.

It is all incentive to get Starlink working. Streaming turns on for ten seconds then turns off for twenty.

My Bluetti EB3A arrived with a 66 percent charge. I love it but agree with the reviewers I found. The screen shut off in 30 seconds is annoying. I will be pushing that button 500 times a day.
The phone app screen is on a bright white background. It is painful on old eyes.

Another problem is the hours left function didn’t make it to the app. Hopefully on a future version. I probably won’t use it much. This leaves me with the stupid screen that shuts off too soon.

So it means I will be mounting the Bluetti close to where I sit. That means long extension cords everywhere else.

I decided that to give me every foot of Starlink cable for the run outside, I need to mount the router downstairs. That will give me ten feet more on the ground to help me get a signal north of the big tree.

Soon I will be drilling holes to make all this happens. I also have an old heavy-duty tripod made for a BUD (big ugly dish). I think I can adapt it to mount the Starlink. The Dishy, as everyone calls it, melts snow. The snow turns to Ice. The ice can make an icicle that can reach the ground and lock down the motors, so the dishy can’t align itself.

As soon as this episode finishes, I will get started. I needed to get as much done today as possible. Rain is coming tomorrow.

With some luck, I will be surfing at high-speed tonight.

I got the cable outside. My back is so sore from this small effort, that I am resting on the couch. I could just set up the dishy on the ground tonight. It is so small, easy thing for thieves to take.

The dumb thing, it will cost them more than the price of a new dish to get a router and cable. It will do them no good. Then there is the fact that the dish is GPS located.
