Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them.

George Eliot

Today more water boatmen, dragon fly nymphs and others too numerous to count were murdered in my quest for filtered pond water.

I travelled down the steps to the pond and filled another 20 liter bucket with the stinkiest, blackest foul smelling water. The bucket must have dragged bottom, where the rotting water plants from last season went to decompose.

I poured the black smelly liquid over a kitchen sink screen to trap the larger bugs and weeds. Under that a fine mesh window sreen to trap smaller living things.

The next step is add a little peroxide to help kill microscopic bugs. The pressed carbon filters would do the rest. In the end clear water drains into a two gallon clear cistern with a spigot. Then that gets poured into one gallon plastic jugs.

The water comes out clear and odour free. Do I drink it? Sometimes. It tastes fine. Is it free of ag chemicals and worse? I hope so. Mostly it is so the cats bowls are kept full.

It is cloudy but I doubt it slow the heatwave down. The air, and the environment is retaining the heat.

Weather Update:

8 PMitis big and right above me. Thunder I can hear trough thenoise canceling headphones. I just checked the weather radar lots of red right above me.
