So far:

I made a trade for the truck.

Got it home:

Got it in the shop, after the snow melted.

Got the Cab off.  Did I mention that in December I broke 7 vertebrae and had spinal surgery.

Take the box off.

Next take the Vortec and tranny and exhaust out.

Fuck that, got another donor truck instead without all that computerized shit in it.  That happens later.

Picked up a free donor van Van 1992 GMC SAFARI. Originally I just wanted the Hydroboost Unit out of the van. To get that I was told I had to take the whole van. I found that the steering column, seats and quite a few other parts looked like a better fit for the 55. After driving it home. I noticed that the high output 4.3 litre vortec had good power. It also had the linkage and tranny I needed for the swap.

The 700r4 is for a two wheel drive so I will need to find one or the tail shaft for a 4wd version.  For now I am driving the van. I will be looking to get rid off any computers Ecm has to go.The original vortec in the Yukon had four or five of them I am sure. Even the tranny a 4l60e needed a computer in order to shift. I am hoping I can use the push button transfer case. I will be switching to a carb. I happen to have a Rochester waiting to go. Stupid shit like the egr valve will go. Mine is sticking and a bitch to get at in the van.

The great thing about the van. When I am ready to do take out the engine and tranny, the subframe drops to the ground with engine and tranny and rolls to where you need it to go.
