“Lorelei, it’s been a long day and tomorrow is going to be longer.”
“Tell us the fun stuff about the rescue.”
“One little thing. On the way down, he asked who was flying the ship. So I told him that it was my pocket watch. I did mention that he was a good pilot.”
That caused a little chuckle. “It’s bedtime for me, I am a little tired.”
Cristian fell asleep on contact with the mattress, The cats and Lorelei all snuggled in tight.
In the morning Cristian woke up first, which was unusual these days.
“Oh Husband, you sure know how to wake a girl up. Much better than an alarm clock.”
“Just doing my duty, ma’am” he said with a grin.
Cristian headed for the shower to get ready for another big day.
Lorelei soon joined him.
“I think you are all clean now Cristian”
“Woman, I am speechless. The lyrics for shook me all night long are playing through my head. You certainly are the best damn woman I have ever seen.”
“Thank you, husband,” she said with a very proud smile.
“I am on my way to the kitchen. Poached on brown, sweetie?”
“Yes please.”
The cave dwellers soon started to wander in for breakfast.
“Good morning, First Leader.” Albert was the first one there to use his new title.
“First Leader has a nice ring to it” said Cristian. ” Thanks, Albert. Good Morning Larry.”
“Raguel how is the presentation coming?”
“I can show you after breakfast.”
“We worked on it through the night.”
“Excellent thank you.”
“Watcher, can you access the specs?”
“Yes, Cristian sending to you now.”
“Raguel it’s beautiful.”
“Thanks, Cristian, Uriel helped with the design.”
“Uriel excellent work.”
“Thanks. It will be just as effective in the atmosphere as it is in space.”
“I see it is shielded. It has the capability of quarter light speed using an Alcubierre engine. I see you added the solar sail that I mentioned.”
“Yes, Cristian, we both agreed with you that it was a good safety mechanism.”
“Great, we are ready for the Reception tonight. Raguel, Uriel, thank you for the help you have given us with this technology.”
“We don’t want to see your Planet destroyed, Cristian.”
“Lorelei, we need to go meet some soldiers In New York.”
“Albert, Stephen, could you meet us at the Hotel later. Bring E2 and M2 for protection full Battle dress.”
“Cristian, have you seen the new logos 2 designed?”
“No Stephen, not yet.”
“I have a printout.”
The logo showed a familiar blue Marble Surrounded by the words Earth Defence Force. “Nice I like it we should get those on our Long jackets.”
“Already done, as is battle armour for our new soldiers. Their sizes were sent ahead. Including Boots. The M series has spent most of the night getting them ready. They are already loaded in the Retribution.”
“Impressive.”
“Raguel I have a name for the fighter. We can call it the Shrike.”
“I can add that to the presentation. What is it?”
“A vicious little bird that impales its prey on sharp thorns to kill them. Favourite food, Lizards and frogs.”
“Appropriate.”
“I think it is time I head out for the soldiers.”
“E1 M1 load into the Retribution Full Battle Dress.”
“On our way, Cristian.”
“Larry, did you want to come along? It is not mandatory. I am going to meet our security force supplied by the US, Canada, and Britain.”
“If it is newsworthy, I should be there.”
“We will be leaving in a few minutes.”
“I will be ready.”
“You look like you are stiff. Where did you sleep last night?”
“In your office on the couch.”
“Watcher”
“I am on it, I will get M2 to build additional Sleeping Quarters”
“How big is the cave Watcher?”
“Cristian, there is lots of room yet?”
“What about facilities, water, sewage.”
“Our spring can supply over 10000 gallons per day. The bio digestor sewage system could handle 100 people, over time we would need to vent the extra methane or use it for other purposes. The cafeteria could handle up to a hundred people at a time. Our internal air system could keep us breathing forever. We have enough stored food for five years for fifty people. The greenhouse alone could feed 25 people. Our power generation is the same as used in our ships. The power is unlimited.”
“So you are saying we are good, then.”
“Yes, Cristian, except for sleeping quarters. We will need more.”
“M2 we will need to build barracks for 21 Soldiers. If you get time, we will need bedding for them. Give them the same as everyone else, two to a room. We will need additional rooms for support staff. I would double the rooms. We will need a gym and a larger theatre. I need it by tonight. Kidding. Maybe you could work with the scientists to design a layout. I will be bringing the soldiers home. We will need mattresses for them.”
“When should we expect them?”
“I would say by tomorrow evening.”
“Raguel would you mind bringing Albert, Stephen and the band to New York later today? I think the band needs to pick up some equipment in Manhattan.”
“Not at all, Cristian.”
“Thanks again, the reception starts at 7:00 P.M. local.”
