“Smell the roses. Smell the coffee. Whatever it is that makes you happy.”

Rita Moreno

good morning

I slept in a bit since I was up writing at 4 am. I started to work on the things that need doing, fed the cats watered the cats. Took a short walk outside to snap a pic.

Came back in and resumed work on my stove cover design. I hoped to build it this afternoon. Designing it computer serves many purposes. I save materials, I make the mistakes on the computer, so I don’t have to make them in real life. I can also measure the boards and cut them to length from computer measurements made on screen.

Now imagine with a clever stencil on the front  “Perishable FOOD inside”

Stuff to be done rip all the wood pieces needed, chop them to length on the chop saw then run those boards through the planer. Then Put hundreds of pocket holes in the wood for joinery. Assemble with pocket hole screws and glue. Add wheels Then cut all the pine boards to length run all those through the thickness planer. Paint everything with matte clear low voc  paint, repeat a few times then roll it over the stove and pray that it fits. I am tired just typing that.

I was off coffee for four days I am back on again. I missed the morning cup. I just got a new mini blender that has a coffee grinding attachment included. I haven’t even opened the box yet. I haven’t had beans to grind for a very long time, I am looking forward to that. Only drawback I need to run my generator for that to happen. A small price to pay. My woodwork shop runs on generator power. So when I do woodwork I can grind for few days in advance.

I am actually excited about that.I bought some beans yesterday. The blender is really for kale smoothies as soon as I plant some. I found about ten varieties I hope to try growing this year. Last year I had a disaster with Kale I was growing in pots inside and I put them in the sun one day outside. They were covered in cabbage moths and the larvae stripped the kale to nothing in one day.

I will have to do research on how to prevent that. I am sure it is going to be a screened greenhouse. I won’t have time for that this year but maybe next, so I will be growing indoors near the windows.

One day I hope to build a house with a year round garden indoors Even in the harsh winters up here.

Just got back from town got my regulator and enough black pipe in to hookup my stove. Probably Sunday will be the day if it is warm out. Sad thing is my water filtration parts won’t be ready until tomorrow in the middle of the big snow storm I doubt I will be traveling in then, maybe next week. Stopped in to see a friend and some ginseng tea and a nice visit. Being a recluse means I don’t socialize much.

When I got home I could feel the cold wind of change coming, so I grabbed the wheel barrow and went to chop wood. It is a lot harder to chop when the wood isn’t frozen. I managed to get a load done. Grabbed the last of my supplies out of the van, piled them on top of the wood in the wheel barrow and brought everything outside. I could lie and say it didn’t hurt, but it did. Even putting the little bit of groceries away hurt.

Cats are all in, wood is in, fire is burning and there were two episodes of NCIS cued up and ready to go. After that a movie. Then sleep. Wood work is set for tomorrow during the snowstorm.

God rest your soul Tom
