I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to run through waist-deep snow, but it’s next to impossible.

Gracie and I need to make the  Kessel run. Yup, we need to go to town. To get to the highway we need to do a mile and a half of deep snow in 2 wheel drive. One mistake and the van will stay where we go into the ditch forever. This is my country road and the snowplow should have been here by now by mandate but has not.

Cats are out of food, I am out of a few staples, having cereal with water this morning. No problem I got this.

This explanation will make this clear as mud. Just remember it is part of Star Wars. Hey Gracie is the same color as the Millennium Falcon.
It’s okay if u have to stop this utube video, the guy has that kind of voice.

Btw I am both grew up on Kirk and love the little green egg-eating baby in The Mandalorian.

That was quite the trip. The snow was deep and just before the highway a big old snowdrift. I had to plow through that and there was no stopping at stop signs. Once Gracie was rolling she couldn’t be stopped. If we did we might get stuck in that same deep snow. I picked up all my parcels, cat food, and I went grocery shopping. I bought the heaviest groceries a man could buy.

They say don’t go shopping for food when you are hungry. No one said anything about thirsty.  I must have bought ten different kinds of drinks, oat milk, almond milk cranberry juice, grapefruit juice, two flavors of aloe vera juice. Club soda and an ice tea at the sandwich shop. ‘When I got that done I went into the bargain shop, it is more like a dollar shop where everything was more than a dollar.

I needed a few things there and bought three bags of real fruit gummies that were on sale. At the grocery store I had bought tons of ingredients to make my own snack mix. With mostly healthy stuff. Mostly. The kind Scottish lady at the till asked me if I was a senior.

” Depends on what age that starts, ” I said,” She answered 60. I told her I was 63 .she said, “you are a senior”. I said with a pout under my covid mask.” I am sorry to hear that. I asked how much I saved by being old.  Causing big chuckles from the older lady behind me in line” She said about 9 dollars”. Maybe being old wasn’t so bad.

I made the return trip through the deep snow and worried a little about getting Gracie back inside the garage. There was a big hump of solid ice I needed to get over before getting her inside. One try and we were in. Then came the emptying of the van there must have been thirty bags and 8 parcels including the big boxes of cat food.

I was already walking slow today during shopping. Now carrying the heavy bags of groceries I was in slow motion. I got them to the kitchen, then separated what was going straight into my office. Fresh fruit, cans and cereals. Plus all the parcels. Once I got that done I hauled the rest upstairs. One of my knees gave in on the way up. I needed to rest and very soon.

Getting that stuff out of the bags was painful, but it got done. We made it there and back again and we were alive. Not moving fast but alive.
