Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don’t turn up at all.

My work each day is decided for me by need. The cats needed to be fed, the cats need water, I need firewood. The birds need feed the outside cat needs feed.

I don’t have any blocks of wood to split, so I need to chainsaw wood. I can’t transport the wood to the chopping block, so I need to clean a path to the woodpile.

I need a large amount of wood since the deep freeze, as I predicted is going to get worse, Friday night to Sunday night. -32, 36, -38, -38.

Before I cut wood I need to sharpen the chain. What I really need right now is a large coffee. The water is on the woodstove.

I am having that large coffee now along with some breakfast. I made the mistake of doing a lot of work yesterday without food.

It turns out chancing icy roads the other day to get my cat food order was a good idea. I ran out of food in the bin this morning. Don’t worry I have two big bags in the van, oh yeah add that to my workload, move bags to the bin. There is no way I could drive in today, nothing but deep snow out there I can only imagine what the highway is like.

As you can see the driveway is done. I meant to just cut a path to the woodpile, but I couldn’t stop. I am taking a rest now, but I still need to go out and chainsaw wood.

Been there done that got the back pain to prove it.
