Let us put our minds together and see what life we can make for our children.
Sitting Bull
I checked for the roofing panels I needed for the completion of the back deck. Zero were in stock in the city. The city with so many infected it is now a covid hotspot with an infection rate higher than anywhere in North America. Thank God they were sold out. So I came up with a new plan. I checked on Amazon for Greenhouse plastic. The plastic rolls I found were the same thickness as the vapour barrier I already had. It didn’t make sense. That was too thin and would never stand up to the weather.
I eventually found a 10 mil clear tarp at a good price. A Tarponator 12′ x 16′.
I went out to the deck and measured. I needed 16′ by 137″. The tarp was 144 inches. I went back and saw the same tarp for less money almost. The cheaper price didn’t include shipping. When you added that it was actually more expensive.
I ordered the tarp and knew I would also have to order the stapler I had planned to buy this month anyways to repair some cat damage in the water tank room.
The next problem was to figure out how to use the gen safely under there. I would have to come up with a way to safely vent the exhaust outside. I decided that it might be time to invest in a carbon monoxide detector. I would have to mount it in the woodwork shop, or I would never hear it. Just now, I decided to seal all the windows in that area. I wanted to make that room bug free so that also meant I needed to put screens on one end or both. I would also consider framing in a window and a door. I had a window that would work.
I also had an old huge window I had salvaged from the dump years ago. It would give me back the view I was about to lose with the new tarp. I had no idea how I was going to move it. Getting it home required two strong men. I wasn’t that strong anymore. That wasn’t going to stop me from trying.
