Time is the fire in which we burn.
Gene Roddenberry
I wasn’t sure before, but I am now, God or Satan have conspired against me. Maybe both. Hellfire and smoke, I think I know who to blame. Since Spring, I have been trying to get one trailer load of full garbage bags to the dump. It keeps getting bigger every week. My dump is only open Saturday.
If it rains the road is too muddy to travel in Old Gracie, my van. She is only 2-wheel drive and hauling a trailer up a muddy dirt hill to get to the bins just won’t work out. On many weekends the weather has held me back. Heatwave after heatwave, forest fire smoke, torrential rains have kept me from going. Today is smoke again.
I just went out to grab one more bag I left at the side door, along the way I stopped to click a few pics as I do in the morning. I noticed I had a hard time breathing, I looked around and there was the familiar haze. Wildfire smoke had poured in from BC.
Travelling to the dump and tossing 60 or 70 bags of garbage wasn’t going to happen. I was winded just from walking around the house to the side door to pick up one bag. The smoke was very thick and worse it was low to the ground.
The pictures never really capture the haze. The colour of the sun should give it away.
Imagine what the firefighters on the ground are going through. I never experienced a forest fire, but I was part of a crew that put out a dangerous oil well fire. That made me respect the John Wayne, Red Adair based movie even more. Btw back then I was carying two eighty pound bags of chemicals through the smoke, now a 40 pound pag of gargage gives me grief.
I just did a tour outside to check and see if the conditions changed. They did. Clouds rolled in. Just like putting a lid on a bucket, it keeps the smoke in, or there is a possibility the smoke is the clouds even worse.
To add to my problems, no solar today. No gaming, can’t do work because of the smoke. And worse, a window in the loft is wide open. That room will be filling with smoke, and so will the house.
