Home is the place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in.
Robert Frost
The odds were against me before I got out of bed. It was a chia seed morning, an urgent one. Them that has experienced that, know.
For the fire, 5 feet of rough 2×6 lumber. That made three pieces of wood, then rendered into very chunky kindling, started with one piece of pissed on cardboard.
Somehow that worked out. With the help of a little plastic. The real question where was the kettle or water for coffee, and cats coming from, nevermind the next loading of the fire in ten minutes.
That answer hasn’t changed, outside. After all it’s only -20 out there.

I made the trip, dug around in the woodpile until I broke my old splitting maul. It took that breaking before I would admit it. There was no more wood in there.
As I was bringing in my harvest, I noticed a wierd pillar of light where the sun should be.
I know my cell phone camera might not do it justice. No I don’t think it a biblical message, or a sign of the zombie apocalypse.
Today was change the oil in the gen day. I decided to do it later when the oil was warm.
Before then coffee, breakfast, then rescue John Marsden from jail.
At sometime I would need to make tracks tracks in the deep snow to the next source of wood. Man that was a long way from the door.
I just scaveged for wood indoors, I found one maple log 5 inches in diameter 30 inches long. I sawed that in half and split it.
That gave enough wood for the afternoon, but not much longer
i was tuckered out from the effort. I am sitting in the new chair. It is not comfortable. I searched Amazon for a 4 inch memory foam that might fit.
The cheapest way to buy was a queen size piece 2 inch. I needed 23.5 inches wide 80 or so long. With a box cutter I figured I could cut 2 pieces to size. And have enough left to make a pillow. Problem solved.
I was also concerned about urgent trips to go pee. I have an enlarged prostate. When I need to pee I have ten seconds. I solved that too. I ordered a pee flask with hose.
Soon I would design a laptop stand so I could work at my chair. Although I was quite low on project wood. That kept me warm the last two winters.
Went through the deep snow to find wood. Most of it frozen in solid ice. I found two full 2 inch x 12 by 12 foot boards. It took prying with the big crowbaw to get them out.
With eyes bigger than my muscles I tried to haul both of them through deep snow. What was I thinking. I got one inside my garage but could go no further. It was too big. Besides my heart rate was at 129. It was a good time to get a saw.
I cut it in half and brought half in. I cut one piece off of that and that was all I could do.
My heart was pounding. I was breathing heavy. My pulse is down to 117 but that wasn’t enough.
Down to a 100 now I needed to cut one more piece then those needed to be split into smaller pieces.
I cut two more. Soon as I rest a bit more I will split those and restart the fire, or maybe wait a bit longer. Oh oh I think one of them read what I was typing. They are hinting.
One thing for sure my lungs are not working like they should. I made two more cuts.
I tried to cut slow and easy. My pulse is still at a hundred.
I needed that to come down more. I am horizontal now, it was the only way my pulse rate would drop. After laying down for twenty minutes it’s down to 80 beats.
I still need to retrieve my gen. I have a game downloading finished in 5. I will go then.
Will I retrieve the 12 footer I left out in the snow or the six footer in the garage, or even change oil today? Probably not.
