Big day. Life just got complicated.
They are weeks late but here now. The hot weather smokey skies and lack of rain has slowed their arrival. Early this morning I killed a winged vampire while I was sleeping.
A few hours later another was buzzing my nose. Yup it is time to put up my beat up old mosquito net.
I already had plans. My two porthole bubble cat windows have arrived.
They were so I could watch a few things from my loft. Cats, the woodstove, and intruders.
That would involve cutting big holes in walls with a drill and a jigsaw without killing any cats.
I just had a look outside, I can see smoke in the air again. No information available, again. The most current information from a week ago says the fire is out of control , again.
The fire that made the news in Nova Scotia is 18000 Hectares, my fire is at 48000 and counting. That doesn’t even rate a mention on two county websites, barely a mention on the Alberta wildfire page.
While I was on my way outside I had to pass three catboxes that needed changing, three floors that needed sweeping. A stairway that needed cleaning and a kitchen that needed straightening after cats got in and a lot of other things to do. Would I get it all done today? No.
I got slightly overwhelmed just thinking about it.
For now I will let breakfast settle in and try to prioritize. All that on 3 hours of sleep.
One floor is swept and clean one litter box is emptied outside and refilled with clean wood pellets.
I did try to mount a window but got into a scrap with a cat that didn’t like the tape measure.
I went back to sleep for a few hours and now realized my day was gone. It is almost time to quit before I really got started.
I am charging as much as I can. Solar is not as good as I hoped. I have one powerbank charging the Usb bug/zapper light, and the laptop.
I don’t think my internet is going to last much longer. My connection is getting weaker and weaker.
I hope it keeps working long enough for my Starlink to arrive. Four days after they took the money out of my account it is still reported as preparing for shipment.
I have been studying ways to install the dish when it arrives. I am worried about my favorite tree. I think I am going to have to purchase a new longer cable. It also changes where i am going to put my tiny house, should I ever get it built.
Well I was correct there is now a smoke warning for my area. Time to fire up the new air purifier. Damn that needs charging too.
