If the world seems cold to you, kindle fires to warm it.
Lucy Larcom
It is friggin cold a–gain. I checked the forecast. It will not warm till 5 pm on Monday. I don’t believe them.
Polar vortex is like an unwanted guest. It always stays longer than we were told, but is a huge relief when gone.
Cats are fed, snow gathered and melting on the fire. I managed to scavenge a few more pieces of wood and got those cut into smaller pieces. I also did a terrible job that needed doing.
Under the biggest litter box I had a large cardboard box as a liner. It caught the extra poop and pee from cats that missed the mark.
It lives by a glass single pane door, that opens to my cold shop. It is missing a pane that covered best I could with carboard and plastic.
The urine soaked box with a thousands of frozen poops, okay maybe 20. I lifted that and moved it into the fireroom before starting the fire. It would take patience, strength and cunning to get the over sized frozen box into the woodstove. Wish I had all those virtues.
I am now covered in blankets, pizza and coffee beside me. It was ten in the fireroom, 3 in mine. I slowed the fire so It would melt the rest of the snow water. I put in all the wood scavenged this morning. I would need to find more, later.
Right now pizza and coffee. I watched a few episodes, slept a little. When I woke it was colder not warmer. The fire was out, the snow not melted.
I scavenged for more wood. Only found a little. I added that to the fire.
At least two more cold nights and mornings. After that I can run the gen.
